eDiets is one of the top diet programs (and websites) available online today. For over 10 years, these dieting experts have provided a place where you can quickly find a plan that’s right for you specifically created to your unique needs. Our eDiets review was difficult to write because they offer a staggering array of plans and support for people looking to lose weight, improve their health and fitness, self esteem, and lifestyle all offered conveniently online.
eDiets started in Florida in 1996, and now has over 2 million members. eDiets is also established in several other countries. For instance, in the UK it has linked up with the leading supermarket chain Tesco and is called TescoDiets. The company has an impressive array of endorsements and glowing reviews from the likes of Forbes and PC Magazine.
When doing our eDiets review, we liked the fact that eDiets can serve as a sort of one stop shopping for all their dieting needs. No doubt, eDiets is massive. Dieters do find this aspect of the service most attractive.
What You Get
eDiets has taken a very unique approach by offering most of the popular diet and meal plans in one place. They provide a solution for those who want a custom solution from the comfort of their own homes. After filling out a questionnaire you are able to determine which diet plan is best for you. eDiets recommends a number of weight loss plans that fulfill the needs and goals you highlighted in your profile. You’re given the choice of following one of the recommended diet plans, or opting for their own eDiets meal delivery plan.
After paying the monthly fee you are also given access to a variety of online resources such as fitness plans and online community. eDiets has a wealth of online tools including one-on-one nutrition consultations, fitness consultations, support groups, customized menus, printable shopping lists, community support, a video library, dietitian support, and an online virtual trainer. Weigh-in is done privately at home.
How it Works
As you first arrive at eDiets.com you have the option of going right for the eDiets Fresh-Prepared Meal Delivery Program, or finishing a questionnaire that will choose a diet plan for you. The questionnaire is short and is a combination of questions asking what foods you enjoy, body type, and your goals for the program. Once finished eDiets gives you recommended diet plans to choose or the option of their Meal Delivery Program (again). For me they recommended the Glycemic Impact Diet (since I said I like high protein diets), and the Low Fat Diet (since I want to reduce fats). After the diet is chosen, you have an option to sign up for a weekly membership for a fee.
Diet Plans (meal delivery)
If you are simply looking for the meal delivery plan then you can simply follow their 3 easy steps for ordering. You will decide if you want either the 5 day or 7 day perfectly portioned fresh meals delivered to your door on a weekly basis. Choose what your target weight loss will be while undergoing your diet. Then simply select your favorite meals from a huge variety of chef prepared nutritious meals.
You have a choice with food where you can subscribe to a meal plan (called “Convenience”) associated with your diet, or just have recipes and a meal planner (called “Recipe Plan”), or a combination of both (called “Combination”). During our eDiets review we found this to be very robust. At the time we reviewed the plan, there were 22 diet plans and various options for meals. eDiets provides you with a program that is extraordinarily flexible, and targeted to your needs.
eDiets prepared meals are frozen, although they use the term “fresh prepared meal delivery.” That may sound misleading to some people. The eDiets weight loss plan consists of over one hundred meals and was rated by epicurious.com and Redbook magazine as being a good pick. A seven-day plan includes twenty-eight meals and four snacks. Some of the meal options include Jamaican Jerk Pork, with Quinoa Pilaf, Black Beans and Vegetables, and Seasoned and Roasted Cod with Summer Squash and Spanish Rice, to site just two of the hundred options. However, eDiets does not offer multiple weight loss menus, nor can you make substitutions online for any meals you don’t care for.
eDiets recommendations include non-eDiets plans like the Mediterranean Diet and over twenty other varieties – some very well known. At first, it could be very confusing when choosing which diet you’d like to follow. But luckily, they included an analysis surve to help you choose. If you decide to deviate from the plan a little, there’s also a recipe club. This recipe club gives you access to 6,000+ healthy recipes, a food planner, and videos to show you how to make some of the meals.

Community of eDiet
One other feature of eDiet is that it lets you communicate with all of the other subscribers in the community. Like other online diet programs, you’re able to post on forums and enter chat rooms. The community is lively, and they try to get their members involved in as many things as possible. For example, there are “challenges” – these challenges are basically groups made to keep people motivated and to keep people moving ahead. There’s also a mentoring program, where you can get help from another member for personal support.
You’ll also be able to access their customer support. If you have any questions, you can talk to a nutritionist. In my opinion, the best part about eDiets (aside from the dish they serve) is its support. Think about it – they have well over 125 support groups, combined with chat rooms that are available ’round the clock. They even have a mentor program where you get to have weight loss experts, fitness coaches, nutritionists, etc. that will give you 30 days of one-on-one support. And all of those are included with a membership price.

I would suggest giving eDiets a try. The standard membership is cheap, so there’s not much to lose. If nothing else, you’ll learn a bit more about healthy food, weight loss and exercise!
On the downside, users say eDiets.com can be overwhelming. Its website is busy and ad-heavy, and eDiets does have additional fees for added services. However, these issues are easily overcome by keeping it simple and not signing up for every option immediately.
eDiets is one of the most popular websites, and for good reason. As you can see, it gives you a wide variety of diet programs, workout programs, and access to a large social community. Based on user feedback, years of development, and variety of choices it has something for everyone. And, if all their information and support are not of interest, eDiet’s meal delivery service is available – which is a no-brainer way of weight loss. It was considered the best meal delivery service from Epicurious.com, so comes highly recommended. Overall, I’d recommend eDiets – this is one of the best diet sites you can find.
